Derek Burney
Derek Burney
Derek Burney joined Microsoft in 2004 from Corel Corporation, where he held the position of President and CEO since October, 2000. He came to Microsoft as the GM of FrontPage, and led the transition of FrontPage to SharePoint Designer (SPD) and delivered the first release of Expression Web Designer. He is currently the GM of the SharePoint Platform and Tools group responsible for the development of the Windows SharePoint Services platform and its associated development tools.

Mike Fitzmaurice is a Technical Product Manager responsible for promoting application development on Windows SharePoint Services and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server. He joined Microsoft Corp. in December 1997 as a senior consultant for Microsoft Consulting Services, overseeing several development initiatives involving Microsoft Exchange Server and SharePoint technology for a wide range of customers. Before joining Microsoft, Fitzmaurice served as Director of Research and Development at Advanced Paradigms Inc., a Washington, D.C.-based Microsoft Solution Provider Partner, as well as holding a five-year tenure as IT Director of the National Association of Broadcasters.

Ryan Duguid is a Technology Specialist with Microsoft New Zealand. Ryan is responsible for evangelising the Microsoft 2007 Office system, assisting customers with deployment and adoption of Office system-based solutions and developing competency and confidence within the Microsoft partner ecosystem. Ryan has worked in the IT industry in New Zealand, the United States and the United Kingdom for over 12 years. He is passionate about understanding people, identifying their unique problems and helping them to realise their true potential through effective and innovative use of technology.

Deepali Tekmalker is a Program Manager in the SharePoint Search team and has worked in the areas of search architecture, query APIs query syntax admin object model and metadata management. Deepali is also involved in resolving customer issues regarding SharePoint Search and has presented at a number of Microsoft conferences. In her previous role, she was a developer in the Microsoft Windows SharePoint services team and has worked on wide lists and Web part features like import/export, connections and property pane.

As Sr. Technical Product Manager for SharePoint Products and Technologies, Joel Oleson owns the technical messaging and product positioning for the IT Professional audience. With more than 10 years of experience in the Internet Industry, Joel has a vast background in web technologies. First, starting out with Internet and intranet application web design including enterprise backend data storage. Later he moved into design and infrastructure architecture, engineering, and operations. Previous to his 6 years at Microsoft, Joel spent a few years at a McCaw Telco architecting and designing extranets, their internet site, and deploying core business applications. His first experience on Microsoft campus came in the form of a contract job at Slate.com managing the staged deployment including web publishing aspects of a daily webzine. In 2000 he was brought in to lead the initial deployment and service offering of an early version of both SharePoint Team Services and SharePoint Portal Server which would become the largest and most influential deployment of SharePoint Products and Technologies. Over the next 5 years he would play the role of lead architect in deployment of Microsoft’s global intranet portal and collaboration service offering. He hasn't missed presenting at a US TechEd since 2003, and is a premier speaker at various SharePoint Conferences internal and external. His writing and reviews are in many of the latest SharePoint books and periodicals.

Darwin is a member of the Microsoft Customer Advocacy and Technology Management (CATM) Application Platform team. He focuses on Business Intelligence (BI), Data Warehousing (DW), and database platforms. Darwin has 14 years’ experience in the DSS/BI/DW space with expertise in a number of vertical industries (financial services, healthcare, pharmaceutical, and Information Technology). He has served in a variety of roles, including application and data architect, data warehousing practitioner, project manager, trainer, and technical lead while implementing projects at companies such as Expedia.com, Washington Mutual Bank, University of Washington Physicians, IBM PC Company, and VHA Inc. Former BI vendor experience includes Business Objects, and IBM. Darwin currently focuses on providing Executive Briefings and driving field readiness around the All-Up Microsoft Business Intelligence offering.

Andrew Connell is an independent consultant with a background in content management solutions, Web development, and Microsoft’s SharePoint technologies. He is currently focused on Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) v3 and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007. Due to his background in Microsoft Content Management Server (MCMS) 2002, he has a deep focus in the Web Content Management (WCM) capabilities in MOSS 2007. In 2005 and 2006 he was awarded Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) for Microsoft Content Management Server for his contributions to the MCMS community and MVP for Office SharePoint Server 2007 in 2007. Andrew also co-authored an in-depth MCMS development book ( Advanced Content Management Server Development by Packt Publishing), with several other renowned experts in the field. He recently contributed to two books focused on the next version of Windows SharePoint Services ( Developer's Guide to the Windows SharePoint Services v3 Platform by Charles River Media) and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 ( Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 Administrator's Companion by Microsoft Press).
